Six non-environmental reasons to switch to a reusable coffee cup
We all know freelancers live off of two things: coffee and WiFi. If you find yourself spending a lot of time working in a coffee shop you may notice that you throw out quite a few coffee cups. If you get take away coffee an average of three times a week, that's 156 cups that end up straight in the landfill. We all know the myriad of environmental reasons on why it's a good idea to give up that single use coffee cup, but here are 6 new reasons that have nothing to do with the landfill.
Your coffee will stay hot (or cold) longer
The baristas will compliment you on your cute cup
This is literally my favorite reason; I have multiple different cups for different reasons and each one of them gets me a compliment from a barista. It's a great way to start my work day.
You can get a cup to support basically anything
Your favorite sports team, you favorite color, your brand, your cat!
It looks good in an Instagram post
Lets be real, this is an important factor. I know it's cool to have your local coffee shop's cup represented in the picture (or even your Starbucks) but think about how cool it will be with your reusable cup, or the mug you get from the coffee shop. Lets challenge the notion that single use cups are "cool."
It's less of a spill hazard
Whether you have one that has a sliding lid, or one that closes completely, there is less of a chance that you'll knock your coffee over in your car or that it will spill all over your expensive laptop. This is especially nice for the on-the-go freelancers out there.
It's an easy switch that makes a huge impact! The Earth will thank you.
